That puppy in the picture has a mighty big belly, looks like he.she might have worms the poor mite. i doubt they’d bother to make sure all pups produced are wormed, vaccinated and cared for by a veterinarian, if they have 500 plus dogs on the premises and did that to all their dogs they’d be running at a loss! that is cruelty not vetting your dogs and like the puppy in the picture above these dogs suffer from their owners greed every day.

Regular inspections aren’t doing anything to stop this over breeding of dogs in our society. Look at Wellington Shire Council, they say they inpsect quite regularly but the Dog Ranger paints a different picture at the RSPCA forums on puppy farms, claiming he doesn’t have the resources to inspect, meanwhile the farmers talk themselves up telling the councillors there is a market for these animals, there will be a black market if they don’t get to sell their thousands (1500 a year!) puppies. So putting controls on them and making sure they are licenced will do no good as they are already licenced to breed up that many puppies and they are legal. These pups are kept like cows in rows of sheds so the council has said, why not!! they are no different to livestock and why should dogs get all the priviledges. The wellington shire council are ignorant of the fact that dogs are social animals needing to be bred selectively with health at the forefront not to breed thousands of cross breed mongrel dogs with random genes that fail to meet requirements of new owners so end up filling our shelters.

Not only do they refuse to enforce or not have time to enforce - there appears to be an accepted culture in Victorian councils to cover up and avoid at all cost any enforcement, and it all seems to come down to $$$. Too many examples where there has been evidence about breaches, serious breaches - nothing is ever done. This ‘culture’ is supported and propped up by the Victorian State Government. I believe the vast majority would find the truth to be totally unacceptable and would/will demand the introduction of Oscar’s Law.

I totally agree with OSCARS LAW, they need to get to the root of the problem and that is more control on Puppy Farmers which need to be licenced and the breeding controlled. A dog should not be bred all it’s life but maybe twice in it’s life, it’s cruel and unnatural to keep breeding and those poor dogs kept in cages all their lives. Joe Helper your Code of Practice is outdated and needs changing and it may help you to understand what really goes on at those puppy farms if you went and saw with your own eyes.

You would deal with Chevromist again… You have a lovely puppy? Wow, that must make you feel great. Do you know where the parents of said puppy came from?
Clearly it appears you shouldnt have even been visiting Deb’s website in the first place.

Yes I have dealt with Chevromist. I am sure your puppy is gorgeous and much loved, however I am more concerned with the puppies parents locked away and confined on a puppy farm breeding to supply people like you with cute puppies. Chevromist purchase a lot of their puppies from other puppy farms - ACA/Banksia Park is one of them.

What you’re writing here sounds awful, but I don’t think you’ve dealt with Chevromist before or even see how well they treat those puppies because I bought my Staffy there and I can tell you that I would be happy to deal with them again. I know there are bad breeders but Chevromist themselves are great, have you got any specific complaints or examples of what they’ve done… I’m guessing no.

donna please help me to bombard wellington shire in Victoria. http://www.wellington.vic.gov.au/Page/page.asp?Page_Id=1559&h=0 cut and paste this, had conversations with 2 councillors so far and they are of the opinion that its not their responsiblity and council cannot shut down these farms once they are in operation all they can do is monitor but it was found they don’t monitor at all. they seem to think these councillors that it is up to the consumer to stop buying pups, meanwhile we just keep on pumping out thousands of dogs. wellington shire is puppy farm central and supplies the rest of the country mainly.

deb and others just to let you know, the wellington shire have told me to stop emailing them, so please keep emailing them it jacks them off it gets attention and lets them know that people don’t like these farms and we want the shire to take responsibility and close them down!
